Get the Look: Elizabeth Banks at the Hunger Games: Catching Fire Premiere

Actress Elizabeth Banks made her mark last night at The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiere in Los Angeles. mark Celebrity Makeup Artist Fiona Stiles shares her tips and techniques for creating Elizabeth’s stunning look.

Inspiration: “Elizabeth’s Versace dress was a serious show stopper. The first thing that ran through my mind when I saw it was ’90’s Supermodel.’ I immediately knew I’d give her a clean, ‘nude’  makeup look, with a sculpted face and focus on her eyes.”

Face & Cheeks: “I prepped Elizabeth’s skin with Yonka Pamplemousse moisturizer to provide the perfect base then I corrected any imperfections with YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat #BR50. Next, I brushed mark Set Things Right Loose Powder in Medium to set her face makeup, followed by mark Just Blushing Powder Blush in Cameo and Darling to warm up her cheeks.  This gave her face definition, but kept the flush very natural and fresh. I finished her face with mark That’s Brilliant Face and Eye Luminizer to make her skin look radiant.”

Eyes: “I created a strong brow by using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Caramel.  This shade is a light blonde, so it’s not too overpowering. Next, I brushed mark I-mark Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Fairy Dust, a soft nude shade, across her eyelids. I used MAC Fluildline in Blacktrack to line very tightly to her eyes.  Underneath Elizabeth’s eyes, I applied a bit of mark I-mark Wet/Dry Eyeshadow in Tabac, very softly diffused, so that it gave a hint of darkness but didn’t look like eye shadow. I applied a bit of mark Touch & Glow Shimmer Cream Cubes All Over Face Palette (in the light colored cream shadow) to her eye lids to catch the light. I added the final touch to her eyes by applying a few coats of mark Scanda-Lash Go-To-Mascara in Blacklash.”

Lips: “I finished her look by using Hourglass Nude Lips #3, a warm nude lip, which kept the focus squarely on her gorgeous blue eyes.”

OPI Rocks Out With New Gwen Stefani Nail Colors!

Gwen Stefani_OPI launch image

I’m a huge Gwen Stefani fan. She is the epitome of cool, and her style is both feminine and bold. So when I heard she was coming out with 7 limited edition nail polishes by OPI for 2014, I was more than excited. I was pumped.

Look, I’ll be the first to admit I’m a sucker for themed lines. Hunger Games cosmetics? Where do I sign up? NFL nail polish? You’re damn straight I’ll be wearing my Bears colors with pride. But this line is a bit more than that: with Gwen never being scared to take fashion risks and use color, it makes total sense to have a nail polish line that celebrates that–where fans and nail polish addicts alike can get those creative juices flowing and show it off by changing up something as simple as their nail color.

“Known for her trademark red lips, bold eye makeup and nail art, Gwen uses beauty to accessorize her style,” OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann said in a release.

And those elements have been translated into awesome polish. Her signature red lips have been transformed into the nail polish Over & Over A-Gwen, which is available in a boxed set that includes Swarovski black crystals and silver, gold and pewter studs in bar, square, diamond and circle shapes for creating unique nail designs, as well as nail glue for easy application.

Also available? Love.Angel.Music.Baby.4 in the Morning, which feature a new, semi-matte satin finish designed to be worn without top coat. Push and Shove, a bold chrome hue, is also worn without top coat but requires a special complimentary base coat – Lay Down that Base. One thin coat of Lay Down that Base topped with two thin coats of Push and Shove yields an intense, mirrored finish. The collection is rounded out with two glossy crème lacquers and one sparkly glitter shade: Hey BabyI Sing in Color, and In True Stefani Fashion.

Get the Look: Emma Stone at The Croods Premiere

I’m so envious of Emma Stone. She’s smart, she’s funny, she’s beautiful and she got to play the love interest of Ryan Gosling aka my celebrity crush — TWICE! (She’s now the second person to hold this honor. Christina Ricci was the first. Oh, Devon Sawa…)

Anywho, in my eyes she can pretty much do no wrong. So it’s no surprise I’m totally digging her textured updo at The Croods premiere in New York City. Thankfully, I’ve got the low-down on how to nab this look.

“Emma’s look was fresh and fun, from the bow on her dress to her layered jewelry. I decided to create a textured updo that wasn’t overly serious and had a loose, comfortable feeling,” said Mara Roszak.

“I first applied Moroccanoil Curl Control Mousse to Emma’s damp hair and rough dried. This helped lock in moisture and ensured a smooth, soft definition to her waves.

“Using a 1” curling iron, I touched up her natural texture, rotating the barrel in the direction of the wave.

“I braided one side back and pinned it in place. On the other, I twisted the hair back, pinned it, and continued twisting and pinning sections until all of her hair was up. I allowed some pieces to fall free and softly frame her face.

“I then sprayed Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong on my fingertips and lightly rubbed it into the pieces to separate and create a bit of texture.

“To finish, I sprayed Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium all over to ensure a natural-looking hold.”
